About the DeLeons

Additional Information

When Manny and Lynn met in 2005 they were drawn together by a love of the country way of life. They both love camping, fishing, and exploring the mountain trails on their atvs.

Manny is a third-generation farmer. In 1994 he won Outstanding Conservative Farmer of the Year from Gem County Soil & Water District. His family was involved in raising row crops until 1980 when Manny convinced his family to specialize in alfalfa hay.  Manny has continued to work on raising the best quality alfalfa hay for over 40 years. The DeLeon's hay has sold as far away as Texas to a large equine reproduction center and to a hay farmer in Pennsylvania. In 2023 the new record for distance traveled for their hay goes to customers from Grantsville and Ocalla, Florida!  This area with it's quality sandy soil and moderate rain grows fantastic hay and other crops.

Lynn grew up in Montana and Oregon on ranches.  She worked as a dog groomer and Security Officer while raising her two sons in Summerville, Oregon.  Although she didn't have experience running large farm equipment she quickly stepped into the farm routine, from moving irrigation water, to raking, baling, and stacking hay.  She even learned to operate their semi.  Now days she does 99% of all the hay baling.

When they found this farm it had been abandoned for many years.  It took months of work to install the new irrigation system and to bring the land back to production. They feel that this farm was well worth the effort.  They are only the second family to live and work on this ground.

They look forward to finding the next land steward/owner for this unique farm.

They will be retiring locally.
